Karen Hills: "It's about picking ourselves up"

Karen Hills applauds the Charlton supporters after defeat to Palace

Karen Hills has spoken after her side fell to a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Subway Players Cup.

"The performance was if you looked at probably the stats, I think we was quite even across the board in terms of possession, chances created, corners, like, the stats are probably quite even.

"But we just need a little bit of luck in a time when it's, obviously, it's tough at the moment. We've obviously, again, on the end of another loss.

"But, yeah, I'm disappointed. I'm I'm disappointed. But what I am pleased about is that there was a lot of players out there that played last week in the cup, they've played again.

"I've asked them to be brave on the ball. We're starting to do that. It's probably the most possession we've had in a game. So progress is being made there. We've created some really good moments. We've just got our back ourselves. You see Jody come on and she's got the confidence from when she scored the other week where she's now, like, taking chances, and I'm I'm encouraging all of them to do the same.

"Then you just need a little bit of luck. I think some of their goals, it was it wasn't well worked goals. It was just the luck was on their side, and they'd managed to take their chances.

"But, yeah, I'm obviously disappointed for the group because we're working so hard. They're working so hard. We're doing absolutely everything we can to to to stay together, to to keep working, and we just gotta have that belief.

"We've got one last game and one last game of this block, which is Brighton. So the games are coming again thick and fast, we haven't got time to to really dwell on it. It's about picking ourself up, dusting ourself off, and trying to finish this block with a positive result.

"I think the momentum, we was we was on the fourth we was on the front foot a lot of the time, and the momentum was really with us. We just need to capitalize on that.

"We was playing some really nice football, creating some really good moments. The players have got to take their opportunities and take their chances, and, unfortunately, today, we didn't do that.

"The the results aren't going our way. We we know that. But the performances are getting better. This is a group of players that a lot of them, it's the first time they're playing up against these players in terms of the the the level. And we're we're making progress every single week.

"Every single game, you're seeing, a a better Charlton performance, and we're being braver on the ball, and and we're creating more opportunities. Now we've just got to finish them.

"But, yeah, it's some bright and big tests, but I'm excited to go and and take this team to to the Amex, and and hopefully, we can get a positive result that finishes off what's probably been a quite a disappointing block of work."
