Karen Hills spoke with the media after Charlton's 2-0 win over Bristol City in the Subway Players Cup:
"Yeah, really pleased, obviously, for the players. They're working so hard. We've had a really unfortunate block where the results just haven't gone our way, but it was what to be expected. You're playing against WSL opposition week in, week out and we always knew it was going to be tough.
"So, yeah, to play against a team in the league below, which we know very, very well, we know that Bristol are a very good side, but we know that we've learned so much from being in the WSL one, where the speed of the game, the physicality of the game is significantly bigger and greater. And I thought we used that today. I thought we played with a lot of confidence.
"I thought we played with a lot of bravery. Our passing was good, our quality and we did the basics really, really well. And I'm just so pleased for the players to have this winning feeling, because it is infectious and it's now about, can we carry that momentum on to this weekend coming?
"I mean, the team were playing really well, but so was the Bristol City goalkeeper.
"Ellie hits fantastic penalties, we know, and she's been unbelievable for us in those moments. And, yeah, I thought tonight, fair play to the goalkeeper.
"It [penalty miss] didn't disturb us. We kept going, we kept that belief and then we came away with that win. Obviously, some set-pieces there.
"Emily van Egmond comes on, scores from a set-piece and Lizzie Waldie as well, who hasn't had as many minutes as what she'd like, but she's obviously gone on and done herself justice tonight. I thought she was excellent. The whole team, I can just feel the energy around the group and the belief.
"We never lose that belief. We've just been disappointed with obviously not winning football matches, but tonight's about celebrating that winning feeling and I want them to enjoy that and I want them to know that if we work hard enough and we keep doing all the things that we keep doing in the training ground, they keep believing in each other and we can definitely put in performances like that and Birmingham is the next journey.
"I think just experience. She's an international player, she's played football for a very long time.
"Things do not affect her straight after. She resets and we work a lot on that, about reset moments. Football is all about momentum and sometimes if it's not going your way, how quickly can you bounce back to help your team and she'd done that superbly tonight.
"She bounced back, reset and obviously created and helped us win the game tonight. So yeah, really pleased for her and obviously really pleased for the team tonight. And now there's a massive buzz around the group following that win.
"It's been a long time. It's been a long time when we haven't won a football match and we know that and it hurts, but the players have been tremendous. They're working so hard and they've got this belief and they've got this togetherness and all I say to them is, look, keep working, keep doing what you're doing and hopefully the tide will turn.
"I'm pleased that we got that win, but it's a different ball game when we go and play Birmingham this weekend. It's going to look very different, feel very different. Birmingham are a fantastic team.
"They've got some fantastic players. They've got lots of confidence as well. So we're going to need to be at our very best, but what that performance does today, it just gives us that feeling of winning.
"We kept a clean sheet, which was really, really important. We played some nice football, scored some set pieces. So it's a positive night for the club and for these players and now we've got to hold on to that feeling and use it and fuel us for the game on this weekend."
