Charlton’s perfect start to the league season in August has been recognised with Nathan Jones and Lloyd Jones being nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month, respectively.
The Addicks were the only side in the EFL to win all of their opening three league games of the 2026/27 season, with boss Jones masterminding victories over Derby County and Preston North End at The Valley, as well as a memorable 2-1 victory over West Ham United at London Stadium.
Skipper Jones, meanwhile, played a key part in Charlton’s success throughout August, scoring the equaliser to set his side on their way to victory, before opening the scoring with an impressive overhead kick against West Ham, as well as proving to be a rock at the back during the month.
Jones goes up against Will Lankshear (Middlesbrough), Cyle Larin (Southampton) and Fer López (Wolverhampton Wanderers) for the players’ monthly award, while Welshman Jones is nominated alongside Vítor Matos (Swansea City), César Peixoto (Wolverhampton Wanderers) and Julien Stéphan (Queens Park Rangers) for the managers’ award.
The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises of former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies, with the winners set to be announced on Friday morning.
