Jodie Hutton said she was 'happy to get that goal' after her wonder strike in the loss to London City Lionesses.
Despite the team losing 4-1 at home, there were positives to take from the performance, none more so than Hutton's goal, which sent the home fans into bedlam.
At two-nil down, Hutton took her chance to hit a sweet half-volley to bring the game back to two-one.
"I mean, you don’t get much better than that, do you?
"We’ve been working on shooting in training, and Karen said I need to be more composed in front of goal, and I just thought, ‘you know what, I’ll hit it,’ and it bounced nicely, so I’m happy to get that goal."
This week, Hutton also signed a new contract to stay at the club for another year with an optional one-year extension. The club were delighted that Hutton signed, and so was she.
"I mean, it says in the programme there was no intention of me leaving, and I love it here, so why not extend it."
As mentioned, despite the loss, the team played better than last time out at The Valley, and there have been improvements week after week on the field. Hutton said that this week's positivity came from a change in tactics.
"We said at the start of the week that we’re going to change our tactics and be more aggressive, and I think it worked.
"We played better football, and I don’t think London City were prepared for us to be as aggressive as we were. But there are positives to take out from it, and each week we are improving."
Hutton was realistic, too, about what to expect from the Addicks going forward.
"We know it’s going to be a hard season; we’ve spoken about that. It’s just about getting the performances and improving each week, and hopefully the points start to come."
