Charlton 1 West Ham 2
Charlton were beaten 2-1 by West Ham in their fifth Subway Players Cup match at The Valley.
After an evenly matched opening passage, Katie Lockwood tested West Ham goalkeeper Megan Walsh in the 18th minute with a volley from 20 yards, which Walsh saved.
Lockwood threatened again after Charlton regained possession in West Ham’s half. Gill Kenney played her through, but Walsh denied her once more, keeping out a shot towards the bottom corner.
West Ham then struck twice in quick succession, with Ffion Morgan scoring in the 39th and 42nd minutes to give the visitors a two-goal lead.
Charlton began the second half on the front foot, with Lockwood again testing Walsh. Her early effort almost caught the goalkeeper off guard, but Walsh was equal to it.
In the 56th minute manager, Karen Hills, rung the changes, bringing on Ash Neville, Jodie Hutton and Grace Johnston with the latter two combining thirteen minutes later to pull one back for the Addicks.
After some neat exchanges down the left wing, Jodie Hutton broke into the box along the byline, before picking out Grace Johnston, who emphatically found the back of the net.
Charlton continued to push for an equaliser deep into stoppage time, with the visitors hanging on to the victory and three points.
