Joe Ledley joined the Addicks on a short-term deal as Lee Bowyer looked to provide some experience to a young midfield amidst Charlton's injury concerns.
Having begun his career at Cardiff City, Ledley emerged into the first team in the 2004/05 campaign at the age of 17. He would make over 250 appearances for the Bluebirds, netting 31 times. He was part of the team that helped Cardiff reach the 2008 FA Cup Final, which they lost to Portsmouth. In the following year, he was nominated in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
He later joined Celtic in 2010 on a four-year contract. Ledley settled into life in Scotland extremely well and became an established player in the dressing room. He won his first trophy as a player in the 2011-12 season which he helped Celtic win their first Scottish league title since 2008. This was followed by two more league titles and a Scottish Cup in 2013. He made over 150 appearances and netted 30 times.
In January 2014, he joined Premier League side Crystal Palace on a three-and-a-half-year contract. He scored on his Palace debut, in a 3-1 home win against West Bromwich Albion. He also went to another FA Cup final in 2016, which Crystal Palace lost to Manchester United in extra time.
The Wales international later joined Derby County in the 2017/18 campaign and featured 30 times, netting twice.
Ledley has been capped over 70 times for Wales and scored on four occasions for his country.
