Naby Sarr was Charlton’s seventh summer signing of 2015 following his arrival from Sporting Lisbon.
The 23-year-old began his career in his native France with Lyon in Ligue 1, scoring on his professional debut in a 2-0 Europa League victory over Israeli side Ironi Kiryat Shmona in December 2012.
Sarr headed to Lisbon to join the Portuguese giants in August 2014 and added to his European experience by making four appearances in the Champions League in 2014/15, completing the full 90 minutes in clashes against NK Maribor, Chelsea and Schalke, in which he netted in a 4-2 win at the Estádio José Alvalade.
The son of Sarr Boubacar, who made over 400 appearances in France for the likes of Paris St Germain and Marseille, the 6ft 5in centre-back made a total of 12 appearances for Sporting Lisbon, starting in draws against Porto and Benfica.
The tall defender has previously received international recognition with France, featuring for their U21 side on two occasions as well as being capped at U20 level.
Sarr made 16 appearances for Charlton in his maiden Valley campaign, scoring goals against Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town, and spent last season on loan at Red Star Paris.
