Talented and versatile midfielder Joe Aribo has risen through the ranks of the footballing pyramid, starting his career at non-League Staines Town before excelling at professional level for the Addicks.
He helped Charlton claim the professional Development League 2 South title, reached the final of the Kent Senior Cup and last eight of the Premier League Cup in his first season at The Valley. His work did not go unnoticed as he made his debut for the first team in October 2016 against Crawley Town in the Checkatrade Trophy.
It wasn’t long before he worked himself permanently into the first-team and he finished the 2016/17 season with 22 appearances to his name.
Last season saw him progress further, making 36 outings in total as he found an eye for goal, scoring his first senior goal against Fulham U21 in the Checkatrade Trophy before netting his first league goal in extremely stylish fashion against Blackpool last December.
With the injury to fellow middle man Jake Forster-Caskey, Aribo’s role in the centre of midfield becomes all the more important in 2018/19 and his goal will be to hold down that regular starting place in Lee Bowyer’s team.
Aribo was named as Valley Gold's Young Player of the Year for 2017/18.
