Tom Lockyer became Charlton’s third summer signing of 2019 following his departure from Bristol Rovers.
Having started out in Cardiff City’s youth set up, Lockyer was released and went on to join Bristol Rovers where he would make over 250 appearances and netting six times.
2013/14 proved to be Lockyer’s breakthrough season as the defender made 41 League appearances, finding the net for the first time in his professional league career with a header against Northampton Town.
Lockyer soon became a staple player in the starting 11 after helping the team make it back into the Football League at the first time of asking following their relegation in 2014.
The following season saw Lockyer shine and he was rewarded with the Football League Young Player of the Month for December 2015.
The Welsh international, who has been capped 5 times for his country, caught Lee Bowyer’s eye in the 2018/19 campaign, standing out as one of a handful of defenders who managed to keep tabs on Charlton forward Lyle Taylor.
