| Message | I really think its time we ditched the robin bobbing along song ! What we need is a loud, rousing piece of music to get the right atmosphere. When the teams are announced and we then start clapping to a kiddies song it doesnt seem right. I know some people will say that we have used this music for years, but surely that doesnt mean we cannot change. You never know it might even make the players more lively ! | |

| Reply | How about "Its only make believe" or "Do you know the way to Premier Land"
if you really want to get them going"The only way is up" or "We can do it"(Rubetts) or the new anthem thats already been written and sampled on this very site. |

| Reply | How about leaving the the red red robin as it is, and ask the West stand to sing. you even try and sing in that stand everyone looks at you like you're a hooligan. | |

| Reply | Oh please! Forget about the music making the players more lively, that should be down to Parkinson.
The only thing we need to change is our strike force and possibly manager and ........ Wake up you sleepy head, while the red red robin goes nod nod nodding off |

| Reply | I think I agree with Andy on this, it was tried a few years back and Glen Tillbrook/Squeeze also wrote and recorded a special song for CAFC, which was good but did not have the same impact as RRR.
So using another song would get a lot of opposition, As THE WHO played the Valley twice perhaps it should be one of their songs. WHO ARE YOU to the away supporters and WONT GET FOOLED AGAIN to the referee and theres always "LETS SEE ACTION" for the team. |

| Reply | If we're going to pick a Who song, "Substitute" springs to mind! Seriously, if we had to change I would suggest "Into The Valley", which is already played down our ground quite a lot anyway.
However, I'd rather stick with RRR and hope that the fans embrace it more. Do you hear of the WHU fans constantly wanting to change "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles", or the Liverpool fans wanting to drop "You'll Never Walk Alone"? |

| Reply | I agree. Tradition is OK, but the RRR is simply cringeworthy.
Alternatives? .. the cliched and hackneyed but stirring 'Eye of the Tiger', 'The Liquidator' (I hope that is not taken the wrong way, Liquidator, not administrator), or as we are still one of the few sides to get a result at Stamford Bridge over the past few years: 'Chelsea Dagger'. |

Things can only get better - to aid our ailing players I can’t tell the bottom from the top - To try to wake Richard Murray up as to exactly where we are And finally, what a wonderful world - for all the rose tinted spec brigade Play all 4 and then we'll all be happy! |

| Reply | How about the theme tune from: It Ain't Arf Hot Mum (All together now!):
"Meet the gang ’cause the boys are here - The boys to entertain you. With music and laughter to send you on your way - We’re raising the rafters with a hey-hey-hey! With songs and sketches and comedy too - So come with us and you won’t feel blue! So meet the gang ’cause the boys are here - The boys to entertain you! B-O-Y-S - The boys to entertain you!" |

| Reply | A great initial post, which I'd like to follow up with a suggestion. Twickenham used to play the following music before the England team came out, it made the hairs stand up on your neck as a supporter and I can only imagine what it *should* do to you as a player. Music can play a massive role in getting both crowd and players stirred up for a battle - and that's what CAFC are in.
The music is by Craig Armstrong and is called 'Escape', as featured on the Plunkett & Macleane soundtrack album. You can listen to it on a well known maker of ipods store. As a first time poster - would appreciate your view. I understand the tradition of Red Red Robin, but perhaps a change of circumstances require a change of attitude and determination. Fight CAFC! |

| Reply | So the theory is that Parkinson & Breacker spend all week preparing and motivating players for the next game, the fans all await kick-off time with their usual enthusiasm, but none of this can ultimately work unless a certain piece of music is played. Complete nonsense. Admittedly the music played at the Valley IS embarrassing, noisy and awful and couldn't motivate anybody. The whole issue of pre match music was summed up at Bristol the other night when the players stood for a minutes silence before kick-off. That seemed to work for Rovers. | |

| Reply | @John Lester - John, whilst I agree with your sentiments - the players should always be motivated - anything that can add to that motivation is a positive thing.
When's the last time Red Red Robin genuinely inspired you and made you want to roar for your team. The only thing I've experienced is half-hearted singing and clapping because of the tradition. We have a lot to learn about motivation - and this is as much for fans as players. What harm could a trial of this song do? Heaven forbid we should try and change things in the hope of improving atmosphere and making the Valley a place to be feared...or has it been so long we can't be bothered any more? |
