Subject Poor effort by the board on deadline day

Message We all accept that the board cannot put in any more money.
I have no quibble about that. But surely we could have done what other clubs did, and generated some revenue by wheeling and dealing?
We are top heavy with midfield players, but short of a proven [fit] goalscorer and a centre half.

If Mooney and Llera are the answer, someone please ask the question again.

I refuse to accept the nonsense spouted since that the club received no offers for any player. If that were true, what does that say about the strength of our squad?

We should have sold Bailey if necessary, thrown his shirt to Shelvey [a more than adequate replacement], with Spring as cover, and used the money to sign a Darren Ward-style stopper, and maybe Kevin Phillips up front.

All we got was a chronic lack of imagination and ambition, with 2 retreads coming back on loan again. It also calls into question - once again - just what added value Steve Waggott brings to the club.

Reply How demoralising must it be to know that you and all the guys in your squad have no value? PP will have his work cut out to get them believing in themselves and ready for the next game.

I think if we sold Bailey we would be sunk because, to coin a phrase, he is the "League One Gerrard".
He's irreplaceable in our squad and I dread to think what kind of results we would be getting without him. It's a shame that we haven't got the "League One Torres" as well - if we did we'd be tops!

Reply Underwhelmed would be the understatement of the year. And the answer to your question, as we all know, is a big fat zero.

Reply Agree with parts of this, not with others.
I posted something about the lack of activity, quoting the fact that I was aware we had no money, but surely this didn't mean we couldn't of made ANY business what so ever...
As for Shelvey being better than Bailey, no way. If we had sold Bailey, we lose our driving force, Bailey is our best player without a doubt. Shelvey is very overated, and is in fact a poor player.

Reply Though the idea is good in theory, if I am right any player sold at this club can only go towards debt at present.
