Roger Johnson, who has well over 500 league appearances to his name, first arrived at The Valley as a free agent in January 2014 and, after a short stint in India with FC Pune City, he re-joined the club in January 2015 on an 18-month contract.

He made his professional debut for Wycombe Wanderers at the age of just 17, playing 182 times for the Chairboys before his eye-catching performances earned him a move to Cardiff City in 2006.

The central defender made 136 appearances for the Welsh outfit over three seasons, playing in an FA Cup final, winning player of the year twice and being named in the Championship Team of the Season before making the step up to the top flight with Birmingham City in 2009.

While at St Andrews, Johnson lifted the League Cup, claiming an assist in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal at Wembley in 2011 but following the Blues’ relegation to the Championship he moved across the Midlands to Wolves and was named captain shortly after his arrival.
