Kevin Foley became Charlton’s seventh signing of summer 2016 when he put pen to paper on an initial five-month contract with the club.

The Irishman, who is capable of playing both at right-back and in central midfield, joined us following a successful trial and made his league debut at Bury less than 24 hours later.

Foley began his career with Luton Town. After progressing through the ranks, he would go onto win the Hatters’ Young Player of the Year for three successive seasons and also win promotion to the Championship in 2005.

Two years later, he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers and, in his second campaign at Molineux, he played 47 times as they won promotion to the Premier League. He was also named as their Player of the Year that season.

In total, the 31-year-old turned out over 200 times for Wolves during an eight-year spell. He then embarked on a short stint and Danish club Copenhagen, before joining Ipswich Town in January 2016.
Foley, who has made 400 appearances in senior football, is also a Republic of Ireland international and has made eight appearances for his country.
