Northern Irish striker Josh Magennis became the club’s eighth capture of summer 2016 when he joined us for an undisclosed fee from Kilmarnock, signing a two-year deal.

Magennis began his career as a striker in Northern Ireland before becoming a goalkeeper. In 2008, while on the books of Cardiff City, he reverted to playing as a forward and signed his first professional contract a year later.

The 25-year-old made nine league appearances for the Bluebirds, and two during a loan spell at Grimsby Town, before then moving to Scotland to join Aberdeen.

While at Pittodrie, he bagged 10 league goals in 98 games and, following a short stint at St Mirren, made the switch to Kilmarnock. A full Northern Ireland international, Magennis notched 18 times in 72 matches – averaging a goal every four games.

Last October, he bagged the goal that booked his country’s place at this summer’s European Championships and played in four of their games at the summer showpiece.
