Stephen Henderson became Charlton’s eighth signing of the summer when he put pen to paper on a three-year contract in July.
The goalkeeper signed on in SE7 after leaving West Ham United and the 26-year-old boasts a wealth of Championship experience having represented Ipswich Town, Portsmouth, Bristol City and AFC Bournemouth in England’s second tier.
Henderson worked with Charlton Goalkeeping Coach Ben Roberts at Yeovil Town during the 2010/11 season – a campaign which saw the stopper appear 33 times for the Glovers.
It was following that impressive loan spell in the West Country that he joined Portsmouth on a permanent deal. Following an injury to Jamie Ashdown, Henderson quickly established himself as the south-coast club’s number one.
A string of fine performances earned him a temporary switch to the Hammers, where he was an unused substitute for the Championship play-off final of 2012, before they snapped him up permanently that summer.
Henderson enjoyed two loan spells at Ipswich whilst on the books of West Ham, which included one appearance at The Valley, and the stopper has also gained international experience with Ireland’s U21 side.
