The following campaign, 2008/09, Kashi turned out 21 times and he netted his first goal for the club in a thumping 5-1 victory over Stade Brest.

The 26-year-old’s form at LB Châteauroux was good enough to earn him a move west, where he found new horizons at Metz.

At his new club, Kashi enjoyed a successful spell which included a promotion campaign in 2014 from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1, impressing in a defensive midfield role.

Last season, the Aubervilliers native scored once – a terrific header against Stade de Reims in a 3-0 victory last September.

Despite being born in France, Kashi chose to represent Algeria in international competitions and was in the El Khadra’s squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, making his debut off the bench against Senegal in the group stages.

The engine roomers Charlton debut came against Queens Park Rangers on the opening day of 2015/16, with his first goal for the club coming in spectacular style two weeks later as he scored from 50 yards against Peterborough United in the Capital One Cup.
