The versatile Solly made his long-awaited Charlton debut on the final day of the 2008/09 Championship season - and will be looking to take further strides in the current campaign.
After niggling injuries curtailed his progress in the early part of the season, the tough-tackling teenager delivered a series of consistent displays for the second string, skippering the side on several occasions, and catching the eye of the Addicks management.
And when centre-half Darren Ward was injured in the early stages of the Valley clash with Norwich City in May, Solly stepped in at left-back, and showed few nerves on the big stage.
Better known as a right-back, Solly, who became the fourth academy product to make his first-team debut last term, has proved just as comfortable on the left of the rearguard, and the 18-year-old can also operate in a central midfield role.
Intelligent and tenacious in equal measure, the defender played a big part in Charlton's run to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2007/08, having made his debut for the Addicks U18s aged just 14.
Released by Arsenal as a 12-year-old, Solly has gone from strength to strength across the capital and was one of the first to play at the new Wembley in 2007, with England U16s.
A Victory Shield winner with the Young Lions, the energetic player would surely have made his first-team bow earlier had it not been for a knee injury that prematurely ended his 2007/08 campaign, but he looks to have a big future in the Addicks ranks.
