Matt Wright reports
Bradley Wright-Phillips has expressed his delight at earning a contract extension at Charlton.
The hotshot striker appeared in his 25th league match of the season on Saturday, when he helped the Addicks to a 1-0 victory against promotion rivals Sheffield United to stretch the club's lead at the top of League One to seven points.
And that automatically triggered a clause in his deal that will keep Wright-Phillips at The Valley until summer 2013.
"It's good news because I'm very happy at the club," said Bradley, who has netted 14 times so far this season.
"There are two positives for me, because Charlton took a chance on me when I had failed a medical, and told me that if I played 25 games, I would get another year.
"I've got through 25 games and my knee is much better, and I've got another year at a good club."

Wright-Phillips added: "This is one of the happiest times I've had in football, and it feels like I have been at the club much longer than a year."
The former Plymouth Argyle forward was actually the first signing of manager Chris Powell following his appointment 12 months ago, and has been pivotal to the side's success so far in 2011/12.
And although Wright-Phillips hasn't found the net since grabbing the winner against Brentford in mid-November, the Addicks coaches remain delighted by his contribution to the Charlton cause.
Indeed, Powell praised the striker's workrate in particular following the victory against Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month.
"It was important that the manager said that after Wednesday game," said Bradley. "I've scored goals before and people have said that I could work harder - everyone sees things differently - but I always give 100 per cent.
"When you haven't been scoring, it's good to hear that sort of thing and the coaches have been good to me in that way.
"It's just one of those things. When I hit the target, the goalkeepers are making great saves. I'm not doing anything differently and I'm still confident I can score goals. It's just one of those periods that strikers go through, so I don't worry about it."

Exeter City are next up for the Addicks, and having represented rivals Plymouth, Wright-Phillips would like nothing better than to get back on the scoring trail at St James' Park.
"But it's more important that we win," he added. "Where the club is now is why you play football.
"You want to be top of the league. I've never been in a team that has been top for so long, and everything is just working for us at the moment. It's a lot of fun.
"We've got a lot of players scoring goals from all areas and even if we aren't playing well, you just know that we will get a chance - and take it."
