Gary Haines reports
Chris Powell has moved to quash speculation linking Yann Kermorgant with a move to Glasgow giants Celtic.
Newspapers speculated on Thursday that the Scottish Premier League side was set to make a bid for the French striker, who has been a real hit for Addicks in his short spell at the club.
But, speaking in his weekly press call later that afternoon, Powell declared the information emanating from north of the border was wide of the mark.
"Obviously, it's January, and at that time of year people will watch our games and watch our players," he said.
"As far as we are concerned, though, there is no interest whatsoever."
Powell, who this week let young striker Michael Smith join League Two Accrington Stanley on loan for the rest of the season, also insisted that fellow frontman Paul Hayes still has a part to play in SE7.
When quizzed about whether the striker could possibly be leaving the club on loan, his response was short and succinct.
"No," he replied. "At the moment, it's very hard to play them all.
"I do look at my entire squad, and I looked at the boys in the stand last week at Sheffield Wednesday and thought each and every one of them could have played.
"People say it's a nice problem. It's nice for everyone else, but not for me because I can only chose 16.

"I do have to let someone down, but I think they fully understand that they still have a role to play whether they are playing or not."
The Valley boss added: "I speak to Paul, as I do with all the other players who are on the fringes. It is tough for them, but I think they fully understand if they were playing in the team which is going ever so well, then it's very hard to change it.
"Paul's an integral part of the squad. Early in the season he scored goals and had a lot of assists, but just as the team has developed, he has found himself on the fringes.
"I like Paul and I like him as a player. I think he's settled in really well with the squad.
"It is tough for him, but I think with 21 games to go, who knows what role he or any of the other players on the fringes might play."
Powell also discussed the eyebrow-raising absence of wideman Scott Wagstaff at Hillsborough, admitting the youth product was in a similar selection scenario to Hayes, and several others.
"The reason was because I have to choose 16 and it's hard," added Chris as he reflected on his teamsheet at Hillsborough.
"I do look at in the sense of if I have him on the bench, will that add something to us, or do I put someone else in? I take each game on its merits.
"I've got some good players here and I've got more than 16 good players."
Wagstaff has been out of the team due to the form of Danny Green on the right-hand side and when he did return to the fold for his suspended teammate at Leyton Orient, he was sacrificed following the reshuffle after goalkeeper Ben Hamer's early red card.
"Scott's absolutely still part of the plans," emphasised Powell. "I spoke to him a few weeks back and just told him to keep his head down and keep working.
"It was a really unfortunate situation for him with regards to the Orient game. I had a decision to take him or someone else off, and it was real shame for him.

"Circumstances like that are beyond his control. That's how football is - you never know what's going to happen.
"He will get his chance again for sure - and will want to make sure he's ready and he takes it."
The gaffer continued: "Scott is fit and he trains well every day.
"We have a fully fit squad, and I can almost put out two teams at the moment
"He wants to play, as they all do, but you have to be realistic. If we are doing what we are doing at the moment, do you change it just because you want to keep players happy or do you keep the team strong because they are winning games and doing what we ask of them?
"That's really how it is at the moment. But I've got to say the players like Scott, Paul and Cedric Evina are training ever so well and they are keeping up their standards, which you have to do.
"If you don't, and then you get your chance, you won't be ready."
Smith, meanwhile, has headed north to link up with Accrington, and Powell believes that experience will serve the striker well.
He said: "When Michael came in the summer we felt he needed to bed in with us just to know his way around, not only at the training ground but the area as well in order to settle in.
"We always felt to add to his development he needed to go out to League Two.
"Plenty of Conference clubs wanted him, but we got him from a Conference club [Darlington] and we felt it was better for him to go a step up from there.
"Accrington have come in for him and I have very gladly let him go. It will be very good for him.
"He's a good player and has got some good qualities for a big man, and we hope that it goes well from him there."

Jason Euell also headed out for a month stint at AFC Wimbledon last week, and when quizzed about further movement away from SE7, Powell says there is nothing on the horizon as yet.
"We've just got the young players that have gone on loan, and obviously Jason has gone out," he said.
"If clubs do contact us, I will look at it and decide if it will be good for the player.
"Ultimately, they want to play and with someone like Jason, I felt was very good in regards to the fact he just felt 'I want to play'.
"I said if there was a chance and it does everyone good, most importantly for him, then we would do it.
"There's still quite a bit of time left in January and also once the emergency window opens there may be movement there as well."
After snapping up Danny Haynes last week, Powell was also asked about any more incoming players and laughed: "That's a silly, question - you know I like bringing in players!
"To contradict myself, though, hopefully I won't be signing anyone else, but who knows.
"I don't want to sit here and say I'm not going to bring anyone in as if they are going to improve Charlton Athletic and it makes us a better squad, then I'll do it.
"That may depend on one or two moving out first, but as I've said, there is nothing happening on that front," he added.
"I'm really happy with what I have at the moment, I really am.
"For them to put in the performances they have thus far, and to give us the points tally that we have, they are all doing something really special, and we need to keep that going now."
