Matt Wright and Gary Haines report
There was a somewhat familiar face at the club's Sparrows Lane training ground on Monday morning when Alex Dyer reported for duty as the final member of Chris Powell's backroom staff.
Former Addicks player Dyer left his role as reserve-team boss at West Ham United over the weekend to take up a new role as Charlton's assistant manager.
The switch was officially confirmed on Monday afternoon as Powell finalised his managerial team ahead of Tuesday night's home match against Colchester United.
In addition to Dyer, Damian Matthew will step up from development coach to become first-team coach while Keith Peacock has been named technical director.
"I'm very pleased that Alex has joined the club, and that's the coaching team done now," said Powell.
"He's a coach and a man whom I not only admire but I know the players and other staff will respect and like as well, and he's a great addition to our coaching staff.
"Damian will be my first-team coach and Keith Peacock will act as technical director - Keith will be the management guru as far as I am concerned!
"That's all done now, though, and I'm delighted with the team we've got in place. We're going to be working together very closely and we can't wait to start to get this club moving in the right direction again."

Dyer, 45, featured 86 times for the club, scoring 15 goals, in the early 1990s after being purchased by Lennie Lawrence from Crystal Palace for £100,000 in November 1990 following a short spell on loan.
He also played under joint managers Alan Curbishley and Steve Gritt when they took charge in July 1991 following Lawrence's departure to Middlesbrough.
Born in Forest Gate, Dyer accrued nearly 550 matches over the course of a playing career which began with an apprenticeship at Watford.
Told by then Hornets manager Graham Taylor that he wasn't good enough to become a professional, Dyer went on to serve 10 league clubs, including Blackpool, Hull City, Oxford United and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Indeed, Taylor, who would go on to manage Aston Villa and England, later told Dyer how glad he was that he had been proved wrong.
He made his Charlton debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in October 1990 and opened his goalscoring account in his third match, a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City at Selhurst Park, the club's 'home' ground at the time.
Although he came in as a striker, the versatile Dyer also featured in defence and midfield during his time in SE7, and he played 16 times the following campaign as the Addicks' exile continued at Upton Park.
A late substitute in the final match before the return to The Valley in December 1992, Dyer wasn't in the matchday squad for the emotional homecoming against Portsmouth, but he featured 33 times in 1992/93, scoring six goals to end the campaign as joint third top scorer.
Dyer's last game in a Charlton shirt came back in the West Midlands, away at Birmingham City in May 1993, and he was released at the end of that season.
He was working as a PE teacher in South London before joining West Ham as a conditioning coach in April 2004.
A hugely popular member of the staff at Chadwell Heath, he worked for the Hammers youth team as sports scientist before stepping up to reserve manager following the arrival of new manager Gianfranco Zola in September 2008.
And it was entertainment all the way in his first match at the helm as West Ham beat West Bromwich Albion 4-3 with Freddie Sears notching all four for the hosts at Bishop's Stortford FC.
Current Addicks players Kyel Reid and Matt Fry both played for West Ham's second string during his tenure, and the recent adverse weather around the turn of the year meant his last reserve game in charge was a 2-2 draw at Fulham on December 14th.
