Bromley v Charlton XI

Charlton's latest bout of pre-season action sees an Addicks XI head to Bromley on Wednesday night (7.45pm).

Glenn Poole struck the only goal of the game as Barnet earned a 1-0 win over Charlton at Underhill on Saturday.

Afterwards, Phil Parkinson confirmed that those players who didn't receive as much match time as their colleagues were likely to be more active at Hayes Lane.

"The Bromley game will see more of the lads who didn't play today [at Barnet] get a run-out," stated the manager, who was disappointed with his side's display in North London.

With the players who didn't start at Underhill set to feature strongly at Blue Square South outfit Bromley, the likes of Miguel Llera, Yado Mambo, Alex Stavrinou, Ben Davisson, Lewis Perkins and Tamer Tuna could be thrown in from the off.

Jonathan Fortune, who has been training with the club in recent weeks and has made a couple of pre-season appearances, may also be involved, while there could be some more match action for triallists James Mulley and Gunnar Thorvaldsson.

Addicks boss Parkinson had named a strong starting line-up against Mark Stimson's Bees, with the majority of that XI going on to complete the full 90 minutes.

But he felt his team looked sluggish on a humid afternoon, adding: "It was a typically slow pre-season game and Barnet were very well organised.

"They sat back and made it difficult for us and we never really played quickly enough on the ball to break them down, so I am disappointed. But we've got to learn from that.

"The way Barnet played today was what we had a lot of times last year - teams playing an extra man in midfield to nullify us, and we've got to work harder to break that down.

"We've won many games against teams when they've played that formation, but today we didn't have enough ideas and movement."

Founded in 1892, last season was a mixed bag for Bromley. After a poor start, results eventually picked up, and the club also reached the first round proper of the FA Cup, going down to a 4-0 defeat at Colchester United.

That cup exit saw the start of a poor run of form and Bromley's outside chances of the play-offs were extinguished when they won just five games between January and the end of the campaign.

The match with the Addicks follows fast on the heels of Tuesday night's encounter against Crystal Palace, with the Lillywhites also due to face Erith & Belvedere on Thursday.

And the date with Parkinson's side is one Bromley boss Mark Goldberg is looking forward to, musing: "We are certainly delighted to be able to host Charlton on Wednesday night. We hope that we can provide them with a good test ahead of their new season.

"We are building a good relationship with Charlton which we hope will continue for years to come.

"Playing three games in three days is perfect for us, as it will help to maintain fitness levels and help us as a management team reduce the squad numbers from 24 to 18."

Bromley continued their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win at Bognor Regis Town on Saturday, Nic McDonnell notching the only goal of the game. The Ravens also recently defeated Millwall 2-1 at Hayes Lane.
