Shelvey and Basey return; Addicks go 4-2-3-1

Jonjo Shelvey and Grant Basey are back in the Charlton line-up for this afternoon's League One clash at Swindon Town.

Having been rested from the squad for the last two fixtures, Shelvey is straight back in the starting XI as Phil Parkinson fields a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Shelvey will play in the hole behind lone striker Akpo Sodje as top-scorer Deon Burton drops to the bench.

At the back Basey has got the nod on the left in place of Chris Solly as Charlton face the other Robins in a repeat of the dramatic Boxing Day clash.

A day after Christmas Miguel Llera was the hero for Charlton at The Valley, netting an injury time leveller in a 2-2 draw; the outcome all the more amazing given that Charlton had Sam Sodje and Burton sent off in the opening period and played for around an hour with nine men.

After defender Sodje's sending off, Shelvey had put the ten-man hosts in front before goals from Charlie Austin and Billy Paynter turned things round.

Llera, on the bench this afternoon, had the last say, however, to secure a share of the spoils.

Having beaten Leeds United 3-0 at The County Ground last time out, Swindon have won their last five fixtures on home turf and have only lost once at home with league points on the line.

Danny Wilson's side are unbeaten in seven league matches, while the Addicks remain unbeaten on their travels in League One since the October 31st defeat at Carlisle United.

Charlton's side includes Rob Elliot in goal with Basey coming into an otherwise unchanged backline of Frazer Richardson, Sam Sodje and Christian Dailly.

Bailey and Therry Racon will sit in midfield with Shelvey playing off Akpo Sodje and Scott Wagstaff and Kyel Reid supplying the attacking width.

Darren Randolph is joined on the bench by Llera, Solly, Jose Semedo, Burton, David Mooney and Leon McKenzie.

The dangerous Paynter and Austin are up front for the home team having plundered 27 goals between them in Swindon colours this term.
