Defender extends deal

Right-back Elliot Omozusi has finalised his Christmas presence - an extended stay at Charlton.

Elliot Omozusi has extended his stay at Charlton

The defender will continue his loan spell from the Addicks' London neighbours Fulham for a second month, until December 28th.

Omozusi was an impressive performer in the midweek win at Brighton & Hove Albion, Charlton's first away success since late August.

Thrust into the first-team fray after Kelly Youga joined injured right-backs Frazer Richardson and Chris Solly in the treatment room, he enjoyed a terrific tussle with another Elliott, Seagulls winger Bennett.

And after the game Addicks boss Phil Parkinson praised Omozusi's contribution, stating: "You've got to remember that when Elliot came in, he was low on match fitness, and he also came in at a difficult time.

"Tonight, Elliot defended very well. He's a confident player, a very good one-on-one defender and needed to be against Elliott Bennett."

Despite being released by Fulham at the end of last season, the Cottagers still own the registration of Omozusi, who will turn 21 on December 15th, so the former England U19 star initially arrived at The Valley on loan on October 30th after impressing in a behind-closed doors friendly at Dagenham & Redbridge.

He made his Addicks debut at Carlisle United a day later, and also started in the FA Cup defeat at Northwich Victoria on November 8th.

Omozusi replaced Youga in the first half against Bristol Rovers last time out at The Valley, and the clash at the Withdean Stadium marked his third start, and fourth appearance overall.

Having helped his side keep a clean sheet against the Seagulls, Omozusi will be looking to retain his rearguard place for the visit of Southend United to SE7 on Saturday.

And he will also be at Parkinson's disposal for the trip to Stockport County on December 12th, plus the home matches against Millwall and Swindon Town on December 19th and Boxing Day respectively.

His loan spell ends after the trip across London to Brentford on December 28th and the Addicks have the option to make the deal permanent in January.

  • Tickets for Saturday's match against Southend are currently on general sale, priced £17, £22 and £25 adults, £17 over 60s and U21s, and £5 U18s in all areas.

Places are available in person from the Valley commercial centre, by calling the ticket hotline on 0871 226 1905, and online.

Fans can also book £7-per-head Valley Express return travel to the stadium from more than 70 pick-up points. Get more details about the pick-up points and times here.
