Eagles clash postponed

Charlton's U18 derby with Crystal Palace on Saturday has been postponed for the second time this season.

Charlton's U18 derby with Crystal Palace at Sparrows Lane has been postponed

With the Addicks facing Chelsea at The Valley the following Monday, the Sparrows Lane clash has been called off.

Initially scheduled for November 14th, the South-East London showdown was originally postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It was pencilled in to be played on a day set aside at the start of the season for development, before Charlton's FA Youth Cup commitments intervened.

Charlton's FA Youth Cup third-round tie against the Blues will be played at The Valley on Monday, November 30th (7pm).

Chelsea, who beat Charlton 3-0 in Cobham in mid-October, enter the competition at the third-round stage, while the Addicks have had to defeat Gillingham and Woking to get this far.

After four years without hosting a fixture in youth football's premier domestic knock-out competition, the match against Chelsea marks an eighth successive home clash for Charlton's youngsters, who defeated Woking 3-1 under the SE7 floodlights last week thanks to a Tamer Tuna hat-trick.

The match sees Addicks development coach Damien Matthew take on the club he represented as a midfielder in his playing days. Matthew also spent time at Stamford Bridge as an academy coach.

Tickets for the clash with Chelsea are priced £5 adults and £1 concessions. Places will be available on the day and from the turnstiles in advance of kick-off.

The club is planning to open the lower west stand only, and unfortunately, under Football Association rules, the Addicks are unable to grant season-ticket holders free admission. The match will be resolved on the night, with extra-time and penalties if required.
