Charlton have signed versatile defender Rhys Williams from Middlesbrough on an initial 28-day loan, the club announced on Saturday morning.
The 27-year-old is predominantly a centre-back, but has played in both full-back and defensive midfield positions during his 139-game career at the Riverside club.
Born in Perth, Australian international Williams joined the Boro academy and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2007, quickly becoming a first-team regular, but injury has seen his appearances limited over the last two seasons.
Now back fit, the defender has arrived at The Valley to regain the form which saw him named as Boro's club captain in 2012.
Williams, who has been given the number 25 shirt, is eligible to make his Addicks debut in Saturday's Championship clash with Nottingham Forest at The Valley and has been given permission to play in next weekend's FA Cup third-round clash with Colchester United.
