Charlton are delighted to confirm the deadline-day signing of Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old, who has been with the Gunners since 2013, is an FA Cup winner and has played in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

The former France youth international has spent the first half of the season on loan at Ajax and, in pre-season, scored four goals against Portuguese giants Benfica for Arsenal in the Emirates Cup.

Last season, he netted the Gunners’ opening goal in their must-win Champions League group match against Borussia Dortmund and, in May 2014, he started the FA Cup final against Hull City at Wembley Stadium.

Sanogo began his career in the Club Omnisports des Ulis academy - the youth system that produced ex-France internationals Patrice Evra and Thierry Henry.

After spending one year with the Parisian club, he was signed by Ligue 1 side Auxerre. He bagged 15 goals in 31 league appearances for their B team, and was then promoted to the first team, where he netted 11 times in 21 league games.

That convinced Arsene Wenger to bring him to Arsenal. His Gunners debut came against Fulham at Craven Cottage and he made 13 further appearances during the 2013/14 campaign, with the final one coming in the FA Cup final.

Last term, he played six times for the North Londoners and spent the second half of the season on loan at Crystal Palace.

Sanogo becomes the second Arsenal loanee to join Charlton in as many seasons, following the signing of Francis Coquelin in 2014/15.
