Olly Groome reports
Charlton’s U18s earned their first three points of the season with a 2-1 victory over Colchester United at Sparrows Lane on Saturday.
There was plenty of action early on with the Addicks taking an 11th-minute lead, before the U’s pegged back the hosts with an equaliser just six minutes later.
Sulaiman Bah opened the scoring, pouncing on a loose ball just inside the box, which had ricocheted off a visiting defender, to rifle a powerful effort into the top left-hand corner.
Colchester got their chance to respond from the spot when a United forward was hauled down in the box, and the visiting number nine confidently tucked his penalty away to draw level at 1-1.
Charlton grabbed a deserved winner two minutes from time, however, courtesy of Albie Morgan.
The young forward met a cutback from the right, and sent a low, first-time shot arrowing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to earn all three points for the young Addicks.
