Charlton’s U18s bagged a fourth win on the trot, coming away from Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 victory on Saturday, despite playing with 10 men for an hour.

With 30 minutes on the clock, Sam Nwosu hauled down an Owls attacker as he approached the box and the Addicks defender was shown a straight red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

But, despite being disadvantaged, the visitors showed great resilience throughout and enjoyed the better chances before Alex Willis netted the only goal of the game with 12 minutes remaining.

When Charlton won a free-kick midway into the opposition’s half, Albie Morgan flighted the ball into the danger area where the striker was on hand to send a header looping over the keeper to earn the youngsters all three points, bringing their haul to 12 points from a possible 12.

Sergei Baltacha’s young Addicks take on Coventry City at Sparrows Lane on Saturday and will get their FA Youth Cup campaign underway when they host Maidstone United in the first round at Park View Road on Tuesday evening.
