Alex Willis, Jordan Zemura and Sulaiman Bah score as the Addicks make it back-to-back wins

George Jones reports

Charlton’s U18s made it back-to-back league wins by earning a 3-1 victory at Cardiff City on Saturday morning.

Alex Willis’ header gave Sergei Baltacha’s side a first-half lead, an advantage that was doubled by Jordan Zemura’s fine strike 22 minutes from time.

The Bluebirds pulled one back shortly afterwards but the result was made safe by Sulaiman Bah, who netted his third goal in two games.

The Addicks started brightly and came close to breaking the deadlock when Albie Morgan dragged a strike wide of goal, before Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu met two corners with his head, though neither effort was able to ripple Cardiff’s net.

Sarpong-Wiredu looped a header against the crossbar shortly afterwards, again from a corner, and it was from a flag-kick that the Addicks grabbed the lead.

Willis made a darting run to the near post and guided the ball into the net from close range.

Taylor Maloney thumped a strike goalwards shortly after the break, with the Bluebirds’ stopper beating it to safety. The Addicks made it two midway through the second period.

After lashing a corner clear, Bah raced down the pitch to chase the loose ball. He won possession off a home defender and laid the ball back to Zemura, who curled a strike into the bottom corner of the net.

The Bluebirds quickly reduced arrears with a goal of their own but Charlton made the points safe when Bah picked out the bottom corner with a left-footed drive with 10 minutes remaining.
