Highly-rated Charlton defender Semi Ajayi has sealed a loan switch to neighbouring Dartford, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The newly-promoted Darts, flying high in in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division, will offer the tall centre-back his first taste of senior loan action during a 28-day spell at Princes Park.
Ajayi, who has netted twice in nine U21 Professional Development League 2 – South fixtures this season, was a mainstay of the youth team’s run to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup last term.
The Erith resident, who attended Dartford Grammar School as a youngster, has been on the books at Charlton since U9 level and has impressed this season for the new U21 squad.
Managed by former Addick Tony Burman, Darts lie fifth in non-League football’s top tier after a fine start to the season.
They are in FA Trophy action this weekend with a trip to Kingstonian, and Ajayi’s first taste of league action could come on December 1st when the Darts travel to Tamworth.
The following Tuesday the Kent side is on the road again, to Nuneaton Town, before playing host to Lincoln City on December 8th.
A trip to Kidderminster Harriers a fortnight later concludes his spell.
The terms of the youth loan mean that Ajayi is eligible to play for Charlton in U21 matches should the club take up the option of selecting him.
