Valley Gold

Valley Gold enables fans to support the club in unearthing the talents of tomorrow - as well as giving them the chance to scoop up to £15,000 in regular cash prizes.

The matchday draw scheme was originally set up in 1989 to help finance the return to The Valley, which was achieved in December 1992. Since then, the club's youth set-up has benefited from the money it has raised.

By supporting Valley Gold, you are making a vital contribution to the development of our first-team players of the future - Steve Gritt, Youth Academy Manager

The committee of Charlton Club, the organisation that runs Valley Gold and the Jackpot Tickets matchday draw, was formally reconstituted in January 2003.

Membership subsequently climbed to more than 2,000 members, the largest number the scheme has ever had.

For an annual subscription of £120 - which can be paid monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly and by standing order, cheque or cash - members are entered into cash draws at every home league match.

The usual first prize is £750, with a second prize of £350 and a third of £150.

There are two further draws during the summer with a single £500 prize apiece.

And there are also three special draws, at the first home game of the season when £5,000 is up for grabs, at a Christmas game, when the top prize is £10,000, and at the final home match when the campaign's biggest total, £15,000, is the first prize.

At each of the three grand draws, the second prize rises to £1,000 and there is a third prize of £500.

There is a whole range of benefits for members, in addition to being entered in the prize draw.

Members currently receive £15 off the cost of a season ticket (please note that your Valley Gold membership number MUST be entered on your season ticket application form in order to qualify), and gain greater ticket priority to away games and those matches that are in high demand, such as cup games or play-off fixtures.

Members receive a 10 per cent discount on official merchandise bought from the Valley Superstore or Bexleyheath retail outlet on production of their Valley Gold membership card, and there are several events during the season when even greater reductions are available.

In addition, members receive an occasional exclusive newsletter, plus invitations to special Valley Gold events, such as question-and-answer or signing sessions with first-team players.

Supporting the club

It is well known that Charlton have one of the best youth academies in the country, nurturing the stars of the future.

Osei Sankofa

Based at the club's training ground in Sparrows Lane, the academy has benefited considerably from subscriptions made to Valley Gold over the years.

The youth system has brought numerous players through its ranks and into the first team - including Jonathan Fortune, Lloyd Sam, Osei Sankofa and Grant Basey of the current first-team squad, while Harry Arter and Darren Randolph both made their senior debuts in 2007.

Former academy graduates include the likes of England internationals Scott Parker and Paul Konchesky, plus defender Richard Rufus.

And the club has a long tradition of players representing their country at a number of age groups, with Jonjo Shelvey and Chris Solly of the current crop having played for England U16s and U18s respectively.
