Saddlers clash subject to pitch inspection

More of story 1

Charlton's match at Walsall tomorrow (3pm) will be subject to an early-morning pitch inspection.

Although the Bank's Stadium pitch is in a playable condition on January 1st, a predicted cold snap overnight has prompted the Saddlers staff to arrange an inspection at 9.30am on Tuesday.

Weather reports suggest the temperature will plummet to minus 5 in the West Midlands and remain below freezing for most of the day.

So an early inspection has been organised to minimise the disruption to any supporters set to travel to the game. More of story 1

Ready to go

After two games in three days, Phil Parkinson believes his troops will be refreshed and ready to go when they return to action at Walsall on Saturday (3pm).

Gruelling matches with Swindon Town - when the Addicks played for 50 minutes with nine men - and the London derby at Brentford on a boggy Griffin Park pitch have taken their toll on a relatively small Charlton squad.

But, after a well-earned rest, the Addicks will return to training on Thursday as they look to extend their unbeaten record to 10 games when they make the trip to the West Midlands.

Parkinson told CAFC Player: "It has been very testing. To play with nine men for that long [against Swindon] takes a lot out of you. The lads will get a good rest though after these two games and they deserve it. We're back on Thursday ready to go again.? More of story 2
